Having To Take More Than A Step Back Today

Jamie quite frequently comes up with questions that make me pause and step away from my computer for awhile to ponder things.

That I am used to. I am also used to her asking questions that I myself have been pondering for days or sometimes even weeks before she asks the question.

Today's wishcasting Wednesday brings us to a topic that I have been pondering for years and years ..... and years.... and every time I touch upon this subject, I have to wonder about things. About myself. About my life. Nowadays, about my children.

About who I am now. I about who I plan to be in the future. About how much I am willing to shift and compromise for the man I love. And how much shifting I will allow with this relationship, without compromising myself or my integrity.

Today, the undauntable Jamie Ridler today asks of we Wishcasters of Wednesdays:

Who is the “you” you wish to be?

I looked at her post when I first got out of bed this morning.
I looked at it before we left the house to run to the post office to pick up a flower girl dress for my daughter...
I thought about it all day.
I looked at it again when we got home, just to reacquaint myself with the question, lest I somehow have forgotten it in the meanwhile.
I kept thinking....

I am not happy in my life right now.
Isn't it funny how we spend so much time wishing for things, and when they come we find out we weren't wishing BIG enough?
I find myself in that situation right now.
I need to wish BIGGER.
Alot bigger, apparently.

I wished to work for myself--and am doing a very fine job of it. I should have wished for more, because what I have is not enough. The money is more than good; the direction is fine. Please do not get me wrong--I am so grateful as it is. But there is a whole other side to my life that I left in the shadows and the dust that longs to come out and be heard.

I wished to be closer to my son, both in location and in a spiritual/mental aspect. Wished to own my own home. Wished to have a good man in my life.

I have all those things. And I wish now for more.

More time w my son. More closeness with him.

A bigger house, in a different location--w far fewer neighbors and a much bigger taller fence, if possible.

That good man--he's still good--and I wouldn't change a thing about him. I do wish I could understand why things are so much more--complex with him than with any other relationship I have ever had. I wish I could put my finger on what it is I need to actually feel completely secure in things here.

And that I know stems from the fact that I must trust my self and trust in myself more.

I am leading up to something, really, and I do not mean to take up too much time. I have spent the past couple weeks pondering this thing about who I am and who I want to be.

I finished reading "Living Your Unlived Life" by Robert A Johnson the other day. I am going to go back and repeat a few of the exercises--but basically the whole premise of the book is --this very question.

In the process of buying all the books for E for her 'coming' school year, I bought myself school books as well. I listen to my subconscious ALOT. And I trust my instincts. I bought a book on technical writing, and I for the life of me still cannot tell you why.

My schedule has been off for a couple weeks now. Ever since June. Ever since things happened. I haven't found my stride again yet. I am getting there. And R is really doing everything in his power to help me, the poor guy.

I could take the easy route and tell you I want to be the person he thinks I am already, but that is far too facile for me. Plus, I want more.

This wish has to take into account who I am right this minute. As well as the person I am wishing to become, right at this minute. All of which is subject to change a second from now, a nanosecond from now, much less a day, a week or whatever.

I wish to be the person I see myself as in my head.

I am not Wonder Woman. I am not Super Mom. I am not Lolita with the siren red lipstick. I am not Sylvia Plath (mostly because I could not get up at that hour to write and then keep my house that clean on top of everything) nor Emily Dickinson (no matter how much I envy her her ability to never have to leave her home if she chose not to). I am not Marie-Antoinette nor Mary Queen of Scots nor Queen Elizabeth.

All these things I am not...and uhm yes, I have been compared to every example I put out there, and not always in a positive manner at all. Believe it or not. Then again, I am still the only person I honestly know of who has been accused of doing too much to take care of her children and not enough to take care of her own personal (as in need to get out and go party and have a life without the kids) needs....but still....

I wish to continue to be the person I am--the one who lives by my ethics and my rules and my morals. I wish to be the person who absolutely and without hesitation trusts her self and her intuition.
I wish to be strong and reliable and darn near invincible when it comes to taking care of my responsibilities. I wish to forget ever second guessing myself ever again.
I wish to lay down all these things that worry me. I wish to be confident and clear and focused at all times.
I wish to remember at all times how very powerful I am.
I wish to be confident and self-assured and reassured.

And I wish like nobodies business I would get up in the morning and start writing, instead of fighting through things in my brain and staying up too late and not getting any work done in the mornings...and then guilt-tripping all over myself for not doing what I know I should have done in the first place.....

Ok, so I do wish to be more of the person my bf thinks I am--and more of the person my dd and ds think I am--and more of the person I keep pushing myself to be, even though I always seem to fall short of my own desires, even though I know I am capable.....

I wish I could find the peace within my soul to be the person I know I am--to believe that I am the person I am and that person is the person I want to be.....

That's my wish.
So mote it be.

Fine-I Am Stalling

I have a ton of laundry waiting to be folded--and I really need to strip my bed...and it is almost 11 at night.
Am I afraid? Not in the least. :-) Which is why I am sitting here at the keyboard with fingers flying rather than toiling away over the dread laundry.

This weekend was interesting.
After scaring the heck out of me w N and his first day of "official" public school awhile back, the ex this Friday past tells me how this year of school is going to be like N's last year of school--N has been in school all year round for two years now. The kid turns six in September. My mouth is shut there--really.

T said N's day is morning with his regular 'person' there to 'help keep N in line' which means a person to shove N into a little box and turn him into a mindless automaton like every other kid around-learn the test so we can pass you and get the government money while not actually educating you--and yes--I've done the research on St Louis public schools--thanks to the ex hub's whatever he calls her (which is apparently what he still calls her, strangely enough, (his) whatever you call her) --but she actually gave me a great deal of leads on the St Louis public school system...eons ago. Anyway. Mornings for N being shoved into a narrow closed-in box. Afternoons w speech therapy and everything else they do with the --retards (I use term this in the same sense and manner Maria Montessori did in her books--I sure as heck do NOT condone my child being labeled as such--but there is no other way to put it...).

Well, this weekend I proved the kid has issues hearing out of one ear. In front of another adult witness too. And T keeps telling me there is nothing wrong w N's hearing---just like there is nothing wrong w N's teeth, which are rotting literally and visibly right out of his head. It's all me. I know. What do I know?

I watched the ex bully my son while the boy was obviously tired and just as obviously hungry on Friday at the drop off--and I know the stupid man meant well--because he can't see past the nose on the end of his face--he really thinks he's helping--what child when tired and hungry can think straight and "use (his) big boy words" when an adult is standing over top of them using the obey me now or you will be punished voice--that voice of degradation and impending doom that I have tried to tell T about when we were living together....that he is completely clueless as to how he sounds exactly like his own father and I know T hates that man because T always said so....

Now--the kid is currently five yo, ok? On Friday, I told T when N acts like that it usually means he's hungry here--and I asked him when the last time N had eaten was. He told me he had no idea. "Oh, I have no idea." Quote. Unquote.
The kid is FIVE. You have no clue when he last ate!?! A kid with blood sugar issues--like his sister--like his mother--like most people in my family period? like every other AUTISTIC child out there where NUTRITION is such a big deal in helping deal with the AUTISM--and this man, who enjoyed showing me his power over the small child, enjoying putting it to me that this is how you deal with this child, even as I was saying in my nice I'm a stupid dumb blonde please ignore me voice, we usually feed him and that takes care of the whiney-ness issue, has not a CLUE in his head about when the child LAST ATE.

Does anyone else wonder why I keep praying to every god out there to save my child?
Save my kid from good intentions--oh PLEASE! please please please

The man can't tell me how N hurts himself 9 times out of 10.
The man can't tell me when he last ate.
He blows me off when I bring up things like N's teeth.
He takes the kid to the emergency room--and thinks to call me when they go in--and swears he won't forget to call me when they leave--but does forget anyway.
The man who "forgot" to tell me how to order school pics of the kid for myself and my family, because he won't spring for even wallet sized pics for anyone in my family because they don't matter to him because he doesn't like them.
The man who to this day has YET to cough up a disk w the pictures he took of both kids over christmas in 2008--or even jsut email them to me a couple at a time or whatever is easier for him--despite the fact I still ask now and then -- until he gripes at me for asking....because he hates to be reminded by me of all his failures....

Can we say--nuff said?

Saturday was a decent day actually. N was having a rough day--but he's had rough weekends the past couple weeks. Boy ate fine. Boy played fine. Boy had an issue or two, but after we fed him, issues disappeared. I mean that--we fed the boy and his mood did a 180--every freaking time. I am not making this up for the ex's benefit. The boy needs to be fed regularly and more than just three meals a day.
Saturday night. R went home. N asked for a bath as soon as R was out the door. Which is unusual. Usually he plays in the bath water from his sister, who leaves the water in the tub when she's done w her bath for just this reason. Or he gets a bath when I put him in. He rarely asks for a bath himself. Which means--warning flag number one cropped up. So, I run the tub. The tub is full, I turn off the water. Boy gets out. Not all together un-N-like. He does that at times. But he doesn't just lay in the water, or recline in this case, and do nothing, as he did then, warning flag number 2. Usually he plays or messes w stuff or talks to himself. Sometimes he sings, which is cute.
I wrap the boy up in his towel. He crawls into bed. He goes to sleep. Almost immediately. It wasn't that late. I was not entirely unsurprised by how quickly the boy crashed. He'd had a rough time before he got to us, and then we took him out and took him shopping and everything else during the day on Saturday. Not too long after that, as I was busy checking email, the boy sat up and started coughing. Mommy instinct clicked instantly. I grabbed the boy and ran for the bathroom. Where he spent a good ten minutes heaving and puking his guts up.

I clean him up. Wrap him in a fresh towel (just in case). Take him back to bed and tuck him in. He spent the entire night barfing--every hour or so. Not much came out. Mommy instinct is a great thing. I woke up every single time just before he'd barf so I could have the rag and the garbage can ready for him. Last time he threw up was 6a. He slept in til about 9, 930a.

I watch him. I get no information--or at the very best an infinitesimal scant bit of information about the boy or what is going on in his life or world or anything related to anything--I hear alot more about movies and comic books than my kid--from a man who barely speaks to me, except in fits and starts. After watching and talking to N these past few weeks, after watching T and his behaviour (and he is a bully --he stood directly over Nik, looming over him, leaning down and over him--like Snoopy doing his vulture routine, with that harsh demanding unsatisfiable voice of his that is just his dad incarnate)--add into it what I am sure based on things N has said is "big boy school' or going to school like a big boy or something to that effect--N is under way too much stress--add into his lack of sleep (7a to 10/1030p daily according to what T gripes at me to stick to all the time)--his lack of a regular feeding time full of solid food that sticks to him for longer than 15 minutes (yeah-all my nutritional studies and research into grains and Waldorf schools and cooking and everything else are completely without merit--except here where they obviously work --when I can get everyone to eat what I make :-) grr)--all it boils down to is the boy is stressed the heck out and I seem to be the only one who says a thing--but of course T cannot hear my voice when I speak because I am not in agreement w him at all--so he automatically and immediately tunes me out and poo-poos everything and anything I say.

Now--the man said he would agree to putting N in Waldorf school (which would so do wonders for that stress in N--before he becomes as neurotic as T and his family--according to the things T has told me and by T's own admissions--not my own personal opinion or anything-I swear)--I am almost a that point where I can afford to put E and N both in Waldorf schools. So T--watch out--I will fight for this--and you did say if I paid for it it would happen.
Of course, knowing how cheap and lazy the man is, that also means I will be driving and picking up and fetching and carrying--but to get my kid healthy and keep my kid safe--it is worth it.

Ha!

Thank you for listening to my tirade there.

Which leads me to my other bit here--because I so did not intend to get all off-track about T-or N.

I do find it funny, despite the Pavlov dog response to R's presence from N (can we go to dairy queen playground now? the second R walks through the front door), how very attached to R both kids are. It's easier to see in E, especially since R is the one man in her life who has never let her down. But N has been asking for R lately, asking about R. I also think it's kinda telling that N waits til T leaves to ask anything about R. R and T do not like each other, not that T didn't bring that down upon his own head by acting like a child--and T won't forgive R for calling him on his childish behavior. N actually likes R alot more than I've told R too. N can talk and he does talk and he does ask alot of questions. And they are not all related to dairy queen, mcdonalds, shopping or playgrounds when it comes to R.
R has been spending more time here lately, more time on the weekends. The dynamics between everyone is beginning to change now, in what I hope and what I think is a good way. We are taking very deliberate turns towards actually being a family--which I worry about from a variety of angles, no matter what R says. I worry about R taking that role, how he feels about it, especially given N as he is, and the fact that T will be there for awhile, until N is older. And w E probably more needy than I am when it comes to needing a male role model and father figure in her life. I often wish T would not have turned on her the way he did--even before MD. The way he turns on her now. I watch him try to make a play towards including her, trying to talk to her, and she isn't responding much anymore, mostly because she is far more secure w R these days. I think it's pretty sad for both E and T, some days. But T made his choice, whether he cares to admit it or not. And he refuses to see it from any other viewpoint but his own--so there is no changing him or working WITH him. You work around him and in spite of him, but not with him. That's the way he makes it. That's why he and I could never get along. As soon as I tried to be me again after I had N and T couldn't squash me -- I became obsolete and a burden.

This week R got a job offer. Not the best job offer. But a decent job offer. A job he can feel decent about taking while he is still looking for that other job we know is out there. And we all know how to find something, right? As in, I lost my cd, however do I find it, after tearing my entire flat to bits and found nothing? You buy a new one. Don't even have to unwrap the thing either. Voila--old cd pops up out of nowhere. The same thing is going to happen here. He'll take this job, be there maybe a month or so, and boom, that other job he's waiting for will show up and he'll take it--unless his current so so salary, no vacation, sucky benefits done through a temp agency as a contract steps in and says no way are we losing you-not only will we match that, we'll top it--and either way--the man wins. Period.

This also means that no matter how I feel about driving--which means I am going to have to hit the homeopathic remedies for vertigo and other issues-- I am going to have to buy a little car.
Give me something old, made out of real steel. I don't care how many doors it has, so long as it is an automatic. I can learn to drive a stick--I can drive a stick--I am just not confident enough doing it to do it with my children in the car in traffic. And right now, I am not at all confident about driving into traffic at all. The past couple times we've driven across the bridge into St Louis proper, I've wanted to throw up--and I wasn't the one driving.
E and I want to continue our lunches w Kerry every couple weeks. Plus, E and I have a plan to go out and sit in a cafe or coffee shop or something a couple times a week, have a cuppa something and maybe a cookie or something for the small fry--where we can both do our work out of the house and away from things. Which reminds me--I need to order homeschool ID cards for both of us. Going out requires driving, and we wouldn't ask R to do that for us anyway--not as far as he has to drive for us.
So, there's something on our list. And yes, I am doing well enough to buy a car, a much nicer car than the one I am planning, because I don't want a new car--I want a piece of junk that has to be coaxed and talked to and babied. Not to mention, so ugly no one would ever dream of stealing it. haha But yes, I can afford a decent car. I can afford the insurance and the upkeep and the gas. I just don't want to do it because I am still too afraid of traffic and of driving all by myself, especially with my kids in the car.
Not to mention, I really enjoy the time w R, even though I hate having to shop like this and not being able to just go out. Although circumstances have switched up and we are now able to just go and hang out places. We're getting there.

Tuesday, we are taking E canoeing for the very first time. I haven't been in ages, because T hates camping and canoeing and basically from what he told me he hates to be outside in Nature--he hates to be away from a decent bed and he hates to be away from his friends, the tv and the computer. So, no hope for me there. And the other T thought I was just saying I loved to camp and canoe and everything else just to please him--apparently he forgot all the stories about camping and hiking and everything else I used to do before he came into my life. So, it's been awhile.
We're going canoeing for a couple hours on Tuesday. Then we are going to visit the Meramac Caves, as E has never done anything like that either. I don't like being underground and I hate closed in spaces--R assures me Meramac is completely uhm modernized and commercialized. So no need to worry there.

The weekend after we are looking at going away for the weekend, the three of us, R, E and me. This is as close to that week in a cabin alone, w just E with me, as I can get. If it helps, thank goodness. If not, I don't know what I'll do. Except buy a car and drive my darned self.
At least R has reached that point where we can start doing these things together. If I can start getting out and getting away from, ya know--humans and civilization--on a decently regular basis--I might be happier. I will be happier. And more productive. And less likely to lose it when the kid pops up acting like she's 45 instead of 8......

R asked me something the other day. He mentioned something. I don't think he has caught on yet to the fact that he has the unique ability to make one comment, whether seriously or in jest, and my brain catapults off with it into a billion places. He has always had this capacity. I was just alot better about venting the myriad mazes of my mind elsewhere before we were dating.
Something about us not wanting to be here in this house this winter.
What exactly does that mean?
What does it mean when he says I am no longer happy w this house?
I am not happy w the GUESTS in my house--although the electronic thingys do seem to be helping alot in that department. I am also not thrilled w the fact the guy hasn't done the repairs I asked him to do (not R, well, not my R--the other R, the maintenance guy) --as my front window is still busted (it's double paned glass--bird hit the outside one night and broke the outer pane on one front window)--and roofing paper still hangs off the one side of the car port.....but we won't get into any of that...won't talk about the moles who have come back w a vengeance recently...or the fact that it dawned on me recently why things don't really grow all that well around here....
When I moved into this house, I was not expecting to stay in this house for very long. That's not a real leap for me. That's not a big deal for me. At my current rate, and planning for general increases in business as they do keep coming, I will be able to pay someone to pack up the house and move us, without much of an issue.
When the time comes.
But, I don't want to move right now. In fact, I am getting a bit stubborn about it. I am not moving from one freaking suburb to another, so I can go from being surrounded by one group of people to being surrounded by another group of people. Not even for the man I love. I also have no desire to move from IL to MO and have to jump through those homeschool hoops there--because the second I step into MO, T will be all over me. Because I do not live the way he thinks proper--he would see me completely destroyed and E completely destroyed, just because we are not like him. Just because we do things our own way--and we are pretty successful at it too. Especially when he's doing the same thing he's always been doing since I met him--and he has no plans to go anywhere else.

And this segue sucks, but still, thinking about that made me look at Ken, yes, the dog, and think, boy, her butt is growing back in real well these days...I can't justify shaving her for the winter. The only reason I did it this summer was because of the mud and the burs....she'll be looking way too border collie here in a few weeks...and the shedding will not stop...but that's ok too.
Yep--her butt is as big a nuisance as the ex--pretty much a match there...really...

I've had a good week-end. I got alot done. I got a great deal of baking done, which makes me feel better. Found out I need to buy deep cookie sheet style pans like my mother has--so I can make pizza where the crust is not so tremendously thick. Thick is good--but not that thick. :-) It turned out very yummy though. N rolled the dough out himself. And helped put the sauce and the cheese on. All he wanted was cheese, no pepperoni or anything. He ate up his huge piece and quite a bit of mine that I didn't finish. I miss my mother's cooking. But the pizza is a close one there.

I cleaned out alot of stuff. R fixed the one dresser for me, so my living room is in one piece again, Even though the red rug is now in the storage room, until I feel like getting something to really deep clean it, front and back. The living room actually looks bigger, even w the two chairs in there, without the red rug.

R also put together the elliptical cross trainer bicycle for us. The instructions made the job look WAY harder than it was. It's pretty cool. It also proves I am far more out of shape than I thought I was. But this is going to be a big help towards getting me back to where I want to be. And it is quiet, so I can ride it while on a call--if my phone will pick up in the den--sometimes it breaks up there--I may have to get another receiver--I have to look into that....

The den is clean. The kitchen, well, there are dishes, but the table is mostly clear...which I need to be able to mold doll faces...which is coming up here. Probably after we get back from Tuesday.

My dreams are sticking with me in the mornings again. I have more than Esmeree calling to be made permanent on my thigh. I will get a certain name tattooed on me before I get her done though--or maybe at the same time....despite protests from the man so named.
The name is R's name--and I have a strange sort of vindication there--the ex hub wanted his full name tattooed along my thigh--he actually wanted a statement--now he wanted this--while he was still planning w D to move D up from AR to live w him, while he and I were still married--and I refused the tattoo out of hand...this time I am getting a man's name tattooed at the top of my bikini line, whether the man likes it or not (which considering my wrist, ya have to wonder why his first name in a place no one but he will ever see makes ya kinda wonder....)--well, R is a much better man than T...and then again, it would be the third tattoo I got for R, which would create a tripod effect--and that is the most stable and balanced of mechanisms, which is why they use it for camera stands...but now I am starting to get too tired and loopy, so I'll stop there...
There are dolls beginning to speak. NaNoWriMo is coming and apparently my new lead character is coming to me, with whispers and suggestions and full-blown demands. And per the rules of NaNoWriMo, I can't do anything more than take notes.
The journey into Lemuria is coming along, no matter how slowly. There is more than K working there. I have alot to catch up w. Right now I have one story I really want to type up and post to the Hestia blog.....plus, I got in two books this past week, each with nice chapters dedicated to Hestia in them. Plus, with everything else I have going on, incorporating--or in my case more fully incorporating Hestia into our world is actually the path I have become far more willing to take of late.....
My artwork is slowly returning and revolving around my hand. I drew a small piece tonight that actually had to do with Hestia--it needs colour work before i will show it to anyone....but it's getting there.
I am about to take a plunge and make a pledge --rededicate myself-- to the 100 things in 100 days challenge. Only this time I was leaning more towards mandalas. Let me get some other things in line. I still am not comfortable right now drawing...I know it's me and I know where it comes from...I just have to pick up some of my art books again and re-orient myself....

and I think I have killed enough time now that I can toss the clean laundry into a pile to await folding tomorrow morning...and I can curl up for a few minutes w a good this book for writer's book and fall into a sound peaceful sleep...knowing my world is good and all things are perfectly as they should be.....

So -- until well, tomorrow probably...sleep well... peace....

Let Us Stretch Ourselves - Wishcasting Today

I absolutely love this image that Jamie created for everyone today. I fell in love with it before I saw anything else, before I saw the question, anything. Just that one word "Goddess" was all I needed to know this was going to be a powerful and amazing question. That word alone sparked something incredible within me, right away.

I woke up this morning smiling and happy. Took a couple calls. Then went back to bed and luxuriated in the fact that I could go back to sleep and not feel bad about doing it. Neither R nor I have been sleeping well lately for a variety of issues, but last night he went to bed early--and I stayed up finishing off things I needed to finish--sleeping in this morning. And even when I woke up the second time, I was smiling.

Such is the beginning of an incredible life. I keep looking back over the past 2-3 years, wondering at the things I have been through, wondering at the things the kids have been through, wondering at the things R has been through on his side too....and looking forward now to the things that we can all see very clearly that are coming...and the things that are currently in progress. It's all amazing.

And it all just walks right up to and in and through Jamie's question for us today:

What door do you wish to open?

I have asked for so much lately...and have had it all manifest for me..in some strange ways at times, but everything has more or less come to me....but please do not think it has only been the past few weeks that I have wished for these things...these are wishes I have been wishing for the longest time. Without the love and support of community, especially the ones that Jamie Ridler so tenderly nurtures and guides along, I don't think I could have or would have achieved so much so 'quickly'. I am very grateful...to everyone.

It's time to start creating some new dreams...to go with the new passion and the new life flowing into my world at the moment.

What door do I wish to open?

What door do I wish to open?

I keep seeing this hallway in front of me, each one neatly labeled: work, art, teaching, dance, home, family, love, children, marriage....I am still in the midst of re-assessing and re-establishing various outdated models of behavior and desire that I have used in the past that have become obsolete....I am finding myself confronted with the fact that deep down I still crave the same things I have always craved, I still seek the same things I have always sought, but now I do this within different parameters, with a different mindset. It's the same desire essentially, but all the details have changed.

I own my own house. Ok, so now I want a bigger house, but I am looking at the kids that will be coming.
I have that good man, and eventually we will get married at some point. Although I am still deathly afraid of the concept of marriage all together. It's so weird to actually have to admit that I am probably more afraid of things working out w R than I am afraid they won't. Although after the past eight months or so, if we can make it through all of that together and still be as strong as we are, we are not going to have any real problems at all for the rest of our life. We know how to deal with things together.
My work is just incredible at the moment and will only get better and better. One friend keeps suggesting I start doing the psychic 'fair' things that a couple businesses run locally. But she tried to do that before MD too. It's having to drag E around w me to some of these things I don't like. Plus, many of them happen on the weekends and I am not letting anything interfere w my time w N. And, no, dragging him to these things is NOT an option.
I haven't really drawn for weeks now. It's not that I lost the desire; I lost the momentum. I need to pick the 100 drawings in 100 days challenge thing again and restart.
I need to finish the two major things I have on the needles at the moment. I need to get back into my knitting. Usually, if the pattern is not too complicated, I can knit while I am on the phone. Well, can't work the lace shawl that way, but still...

Marriage. More kids. More critters. More Nature. A vacation home out far away from Humanity.
Writing. The artwork. Claywork. Metal work. Fiber arts. The dolls. Studying. Teaching. Growing.

So many different choices, all along the same path, along the same hallway...

I wish to open the door to new opportunities, new experiences, new dreams, the fresh winds of peace and clarity.

I wish to open the door to true freedom, which is something I have always preached, but always shackled myself in one way or another and prevented myself from reaching...

I wish to open myself to all the beauty and the bounty and the love that the Universe has in store for me.

I wish to set aside the unimportant and focus on what is real and true to me: my home and my family.

I wish to reconnect with the things I have thought lost to me for so long and to watch these things again blossom and bear wondrous fruit.

As Above, so Below.
Peace.

Total Rambling

Ok, now that I have finished writing all of this, let me apologize to Leah—because my fingers started moving and just did not quit as they wound their way through topic after unrelated topic…but I am sure glad they did….I am sure I am way way off topic all over…

Leah asks:
How are you moving energetically in your life right now? Is your energy more anxious and frenetic? Does it move in waves like the ocean? Is it more like a still lake?

This is just such a brilliant and apt question right now in my life. My entire life is turning round and round so much I almost feel as if I am caught in a whirlpool, only, as fast as this one is running, it feels gentle and calm and safe. It really feels good.

It took me this long, not quite a year, to get back into my own space, to start working for myself, to pick up old clients I had left before the move to MD, pick up new clients thanks to much word of mouth from former clients. Life is so good these days—and getting better.

I am so thankful that I don’t have so much stress in my life. I do not have to flinch every time the phone rings or worry about not being able to do anything because I have to work. Now, my work comes with me no matter where I go. Now, I catch the phone or not and don’t have to freak out about it, either way. Now I can leave my house, or in my case lately, take phone calls from friends that last for hours and hours and not worry about missing work. Now, I can take those ignorant calls from automated systems for the couple who used to have my phone number before I did and hit the right buttons, at least on some of the calls, to tell the system it has the wrong number.

I have noticed I have to retrain everyone in the house. My daughter no longer hyperventilates when the phone rings and I miss the call, but bird, dog and both kids still jump and holler when the phone rings so I don’t miss a call. Which is ‘fun’ as I have three telephones in the house at the moment, and sometimes, more than one rings at a time, just to keep me on my toes. As yet, all three have not rung at the same time—knock on wood.

I am finally (still) cleaning out all that extra garbage I have so long held onto, in the storage room, in my room, in the attic, in the car port. The whole nine. Moving so much stuff OUT and whether donating, selling, giving it away, throwing it away, whatever—it is SUCH an enlightening and empowering process. I am agog that it took me so long to reach this point where it just has to go—and I like it.

Although the boyfriend has started to pick on me about needing new black boots—the lace-up thigh high 4 inch spikes ones aren’t “good enough’ for me and all. I want some black boots I can wear w anything, because I will wear them w everything. And the black boots are meant for one thing really: to tease the heck out of him when I wear them. lol So—if he considers that ‘not good enough’ for me, I may have to not wear them again for a bit.

I have some interesting new devices throughout the house. We found a package of three electronic pest repellers at the thrift store, new in the box, and grabbed them. For $8, we figured, why not? So far, they work very well. The heavier bodied beetles and spiders are having issues—I hate that it repels my spiders, but it’s spiders or big nasty water beetles—and mice. So, bye-bye, spidey. Sorry. The thinner bodied spiders do not really seem to be affected—or maybe it takes longer for them to react to the noise. I felt so bad the other night. I walked into the kitchen and one of those heavy bodied brown spiders with the black and white stripes on it was sitting in the middle of the floor. It started to walk one way, kinda tripped a little, started another way, wobbled some more. I picked it up and put it outside. I don’t want them to suffer. The water bugs? I have caught 2 in the middle of the kitchen floor, doing the same thing. I shot them w pesticide. Sorry. The standard rule for bugs and other pests in my house—and I tell the ants every time I see them—is you and I will be fine if you stay outside. You enter my house, you get one chance. Then, if I see you again, you be dead. Other than directly on my roses only when the roses are about to die from chomping will I put pesticides on them. Otherwise, I use natural stuff outside—unless the moles are killing everything—so I am waiting and watching that since the rains killed all my castor bean seeds before they took off. Inside, I would much prefer to use all natural products—but we have—the bird. Which means all my studying essential oils and herbs and Ancient techniques amounts to –jack squat—because you can’t use stuff that stinks around the stinky bird. Honestly, joking aside, birds are highly sensitive to scents and cannot be around even slight smells sometimes—lest they die.

I was on the phone w a friend today. She was talking about trying to find out all her son’s email addresses to keep an eye on him, and it made me stop and think. I have roughly 20? maybe 30? email addresses. At one point, I had a separate email for every different job, hobby, certain one for friends, certain ones for writing, certain ones for this that and the other. It dawned on me today, here I am trying to cut down on the clutter and mayhem in my life and I still have all of this over my head. So, I went out and I deleted all the extraneous email accounts. I deleted all the extraneous blogs. I sifted through my inboxes and removed a whole bunch of stuff that was just sitting there—and unearthed a bunch of stuff I had forgotten was in there as well.

And the netbook, called ‘little red’ cause I am all about the little red riding hood thing for the moment, talk about mobility. And the webcam is cool too. It’s pretty good for something so small, although it claims to be a good camera for low level light—nope. Maybe we need to find different levels of lights to please it—but in full light the cam is awesome. Which means the boyfriend and I are in a lot of trouble together. Although, since the internet connection here is slow in so many directions, it is not perfect and there are times when one cam or the other, and sometimes both at the same time, will freeze for a few seconds. But, imagine when he and I live together, and we both have wireless computers (as he is planning to buy a new laptop here soon), in a house hooked up to wireless internet, where the connection is good. We may never get around to seeing one another in the flesh! lol Like either one of us could live without that…

There is so much light and love coming in this month. I think I told you about ordering all the homeschool curriculum and books.  I am still amazed with myself over that one. I cannot believe I waited so long before I started out on my own, work-wise. It’s not the first time I’ve done it, and definitely not the first time around here that I’ve done it, but this time instead of a part time, every here and there kind of thing, I do it constantly and consistently. I am also impressed by the people who found me through mutual friends and the phone book and who are reaching out, usually via email, and asking after things and still recommending me to others as well. There is no stopping me now. And this is all before I really start branching out and start working in the healing field again, which I prefer. Then again, more than half my current clients come to me not for the psychic stuff or the spiritual counseling stuff; they come for the energy work and the healing work that I do. Which is a good thing for me. I like it, makes me happy. I open myself up and work on me, providing the space for them to open themselves up and work on them. Win-win on both sides there. That’s all most healing is—allowing people to open themselves up and to let them believe they are stepping aside in their own process while in reality they are stepping forward to take care of things themselves.

The only thing I am really putting off is bathing the fat dog. Ken is getting BIG, and not in a boy, she’s coming into that barrel chest of hers or those big feet of hers big—big as in did you eat the whole McDonalds restaurant for two months in a row or what? Now, I will admit, she gets table scraps. If you ever heard my grandfather go off about commercial dog food, you’d understand why—especially since research proves out what Paps always said—a non-dog chow diet is healthier (if you know what you’re doing and make sure they get all their 4 foods groups, yada yada yada—I am not giving you the diet here—raw diets are easy to find online). But this is Ken, and she is a picky snot. She always has been. She eats because she’s stressed—she’s stressed because she’s jealous. Someone is w this dog all day and all night. She does go lay by herself now and then, but it normally doesn’t last long because she cannot tolerate being all alone. Her idea of alone is lying in front of the bird’s cage and letting Cricket squawk at her while Ken naps. We do not overload the dog—she overloads us. There are times I tell her to go sleep by herself, because I need the space.

When we came home after spending the night at the boyfriend’s house, I made sure to turn the air conditioner up before bed. And I was right. That dog, which usually either sleeps at the foot of the bed or in the hall where she can see E and me, slept, I kid you not, half on top of me, all freaking night long, until the alarm (the phone) went off at 8a the next morning. Then, she went outside, came back in, and literally wrapped herself around the base of my computer chair, which is on wheels, which she usually avoids sleeping too close to lest I forget she’s back there and almost run her over, cause she is fast and she does move the second this chair wiggles a smidge—and no—I’ve never actually run her over—unless you count the 6 inch fur on her tail—and when I did that—she slept through it so it wasn’t that traumatic!

Poor girl was a stray puppy. She was picked up not because she was starving, because she was still starved when we brought her home (also another reason she’s getting to be a big girl—a big girl going on a diet too), but because she wanted someone to pet her. She would still rather be loved on than anything else in the world.

How would you like to (be) moving through the world? Perhaps you could make a piece of art or write about what energy you'd like to embody more of. Or perhaps you could practice one small movement in the style of energy you want to live in.

How would I like to move through the world? Do I say faster? Do I say slower? Things are really moving at the moment. This is the normal pattern of things that happen around me. Zoom zoom zoom. (boyfriend, pregnant, new job) and then pause pause pause (time to reflect, time to negotiate, time to draw strength). For some reason, Patience is not my virtue, and yet I am too full of Patience at times, even the times when I should not be patient. And sometimes my patience comes from being afraid, so is that really patience?

I have spent the past six-seven years or so, give or take, waiting for some guy to show up in my life and be a responsible participating party (yes, my son turns 6 next month-and yes, even w his dad there, through the pregnancy-I was waiting for a real man to show up, because ya know…we won’t go there today…some days he tries his best…his best is just far far substandard for normal people is all….). Now, E and I have both listened to stupid people, especially that one who told me HER future happiness was contingent upon my own, upon me finding ‘that guy’ and bringing his friend into her life so she could be happy—sounds dumb, doesn’t it? But when you are put down and abused as much as the son’s dad did me –and mental and emotional abuse and blackmail is what I suffered at his hands—you are so willing to grasp any straw, any hope, believe any tidbit given….not to mention all the years of abuse suffered at the hands of the ex-husband which made me a perfect candidate to seek out someone as abusive as N’s dad in the first place (tell me it is not abusive to simply walk out the door, not say good-bye to anyone, child or adult, not explain where you’re going, and just be gone for hours—or to split without a word and then send pictures of wherever it is you are, say, a music concert—that your significant other had no clue was in town, much less that you were interested in it, nor that you intended to go—and the cop out of oh I thought I told you is utter hogwash—and not once or twice but consistently every time for months and months despite arguments and nagging about it from every quarter…. Yes, I apologize, I am on a roll and moving stuff out and about tonight!)

Then, out of nowhere, the best friend and I strike up a bargain. Best friends w benefits. Considering our past, not a big deal. Until BOOM we fall for one another. And as everyone around us keeps saying—it was inevitable and 99.999999% of everyone is shocked it didn’t happen a lot sooner…except that one ex gf of his who has thought since before she ever even met me that I am the anti-Christ, simply because I used to live w the man, and gave birth in his house…among other things…

I can go into detail here—about how some certain woman cannot get her head out of her own backside to see things past the end of her nose…and I am not relying on anyone else’s words for that—I am relying upon her own behavior in front of me on more than one occasion – behavior which if I didn’t feel so bad for the poor wench might be really freaking funny—because that one encounter still drops me to the floor w laughter. But still…I digress…

Notice I pulled up at least one old post that I had deleted recently? I think there are two more here somewhere—I have to put in the time to locate them. They will be coming back up too. I am tired of hiding who I was and who I am for the sake of others, especially other who don’t really mean anything to me. So, if you see old posts popping up, that’s why. No worries. it’s about me freeing me and being me and setting all this old worry and fear and angst on its ear and just—letting go—letting me fly…(I got that from Sarah, btw ).

One thing I am determined to do is be more myself. I am no longer that party girl I used to be—the ex hub killed that (the whole I love short skirts and high heels up until we get married thing—then I hate it and you look like a whore—yeah, he did do that—and blamed me when he did) –not to mention I have kids—and I am in a different space. I want to go out more. And since E, or E and N, normally come w us wherever we go, I cannot always go where I want to go. Let me be honest here—I live fairly close to where all the strip clubs are—not THAT close, but within a 10, 15 min drive, barring any trains. Which means there are uhm stores there as well. And I have a thing for lingerie that doesn’t stop. So, there is one store here I love, Romantix Intimate Boutique. Now, they sell a lot more than lingerie—and truthfully the boyfriend and I are rather exploratory at times so this isn’t a bad thing. Either way, I am not taking kids in there. No way I will leave kids in the car either—although I threaten now and then. And E has offered to stay in the car at times because she’s too tired/lazy to get out, especially if I just have to run in for something real quick—though not at this store cause we don’t go near it when the kids are w us. But, we have to wait til E is off spending the night somewhere before we go. After our last trip, we should be set for a bit. Although I am still thinking about one particular outfit…ahh me—it was pink and I am not really a pink kinda person. What am I saying—other than giving way TMI? Basically, I like to go out and do things, but have to moderate what I do.

The worst thing I can say I have done lately is have the boyfriend take us out and I ordered two margaritas –at Chevy’s Tex Mex—those who know will realize that those blue agave margaritas are why I now have E too. Wine was more responsible for N though, wine and stupid belief yet again in the “joys” of karmic connections…..not all karma is good karma, dude. Even when the boy (N) is such a total blessing….this last time at chevy’s I ordered a yummy peach grande frozen margarita – should have stopped—but I was eating and I was feeling good and the bf was there to watch me. I ordered a regular frozen watermelon margarita –because it sounded too weird NOT to try (it kinda tasted more of watermelon RIND than watermelon, but it was still surprisingly good) and because after trying to deal w the ex and all sorts of things on top, I was close to having a nervous break-down. I was tipsy only—I was not completely drunk. I was definitely feeling no pain. But I was careful. I was happy, thankfully, and a lot less likely to take garbage, but R was there and he didn’t let me do anything untoward. And E was cool. I do not recommend drinking in front of children, but this was my last resort sort of thing. Her presence allowed me to be more playful than I would have been otherwise, but anything else and R would have taken care of things. I keep making it sound like I was completely gone and I swear I wasn’t. I do not drink normally. I am very careful where alcohol is concerned. The fact that I was under that much stress and “needing” a drink says a great deal about my stress levels then. But, I have a good man, and I have a great kid. I am careful—please do not worry about the small fry. Plus, R took us home and put me to bed immediately anyway. If he weren’t there, I wouldn’t have touched a drop of anything stronger than sweet tea.

Ya know, none of that was why I started this segment. I started it to brag about this awesome Thai restaurant in Fairview Heights, IL, Tong Phoon. Oh my gosh—the food is STUNNINGLY good. Here’s where my whole living for me thing comes in—I ordered my usual fare—lots of veg, and a bit of meat tossed in for good measure (they put in a lot more than ‘a little’). I ordered the spicy green beans (long green beans, bell pepper, basil, and kaffir leaves in a red curry paste, with chicken, beef and shrimp). I ordered three stars hot. Normally, I do not eat very spicy foods. It’s not that I don’t like them or they don’t like me. It’s just easier for me to take the mild route. It has to do w the ex hub and his grilling—and his chili that I would slave to make chap your lips and still tasty hot and I did darned good at that too. Usually I steer away from spice because it may make me think of him—although it doesn’t these days—hasn’t for awhile either—but the behavior has gone on long enough to have become ingrained. When we went something in me said—try it hot. Have you ever eaten food so darned tasty you literally cannot stop eating it even after your lips are chapped, your gums are burning, and your esophagus is begging for mercy? BTW, my stomach was fine w everything, much to my surprise. (The Thai iced tea is good for counter-balancing the spice) I usually cannot eat everything on my plate, even on a I haven’t eaten since yesterday morning sort of day. My stomach isn’t set up that way. I wanted to stop eating long before I did—but it was SO good I could not stop. And I did have some left over, but not very much. When I had the left-overs today for lunch the rice had absorbed the curry—it wasn’t lip chapping hot—although it still had a lot of snap to it—but it was so tasty even reheated—it’s unbelievable. I highly highly recommend this place. And even though I said next time we go (which will be soon too) I would order no more than 2 stars—I am already craving a 3 star hot dish again. Not to mention, on our last journey through global foods, I grabbed some extra hot curry spices. Technically, I could make my own, but …still…I’d rather go back and let them do it—they make everything so well …

Want to know how you can tell it was really good? As spicy as my curry was, E ate rice dipped in it—and she also dipped rice in R’s 2 star curry (he had a different dish) –then by the end she was dipping her chicken nuggets in my red curry too. She LOVED it. And did you seenotice—they have meals for kids. She was upset she didn’t slow down long enough to know they would have given her rice instead of fries w her nuggets. She is so used to ordering chicken and fries. She knows for next time though. And is looking forward to going too.

Movement, you say? Movement? We are all about movement these days. The boyfriend is getting unstuck. People are calling for job interviews and whatnot. He is finally out—or rather coming out—of his major unhappy place. We are not going camping for a bit, until he exchanges his tent (bad zipper) , but we are going canoeing. The small fry has been after him for awhile about this. I wonder if I should remind him to take a fishing pole too, since he promised to teach her to fish awhile ago.

And due to all the stress in my current life, what w the miscarriage and N starting public school (and getting shoved ever deeper into a stupid box and made be ‘just like everyone else’), the stress my boyfriend has been under—when he’s stressed I am stressed. Our connection really is that deep. I wish I could do more to help him, but I do what I can and he says it helps, due to all of this and more—just fighting E over her room is enough to drive me over the edge most days….we are taking a little mini vacation. My original intent was actually buy a car and drive for a day or two, find a place to stay, stay for a few days, come home. Or take a train for a week. Or take a plane somewhere, rent a car, find a cabin and be alone w the girl out of the way of humans—a cabin in the woods for a week. I have since modified this. I know I want to run, so I told the bf. It’s hard to love someone this much, where he can make one statement and I want to immediately change plans to keep him from hurting over my insanity. I am trying to work on the man for three or four days, but so far it looks more like a weekend trip, not a four day weekend trip. It scared him I wanted to run; I can’t do that to him, especially when I know why I want to run. I asked him along. And if I get persnickety about things, I can tell him I did it so he’d have to drive, because I still am not able emotionally to stand the thought of driving all by myself, especially not w E in the car. But, we are taking our little mini family vacation, after we go canoeing next week—of course now he is saying the canoeing may cure me of my ills so that I don’t want to find that cabin at all, but I know me a little better—he may know me better than anyone else-but not better than I do—well—not all the time anyway. A cabin in the woods, with hiking, and as much as the bf balks, horse back riding, lots of Nature. I even told the kid no tv and that THRILLED her—made her very happy. Can you imagine? Isn’t that just great? lol That kid, she drives me so crazy some days, but I love her to pieces.

Just noticing how you move through your day might be a place to start. In this moment, take a breath and check-in. What's your energy like right now?

Now, right now, this is the end of my day. I spent the day on the phone literally. Over nine hours of talking, and that doesn’t count my one friend either. I had a blast. It sounds so silly, but I really did. It was a good day.

Do you know, I found out I was still carrying an email account where I was using the ex’s name as my own? Can you imagine the load that fell away as I deleted that account? All the old stuff, the old debris, associated w that man and our time together…the last connection…now severed. It’s a very great experience.

Plus, I took a few steps towards opening my other business as well. This one is utterly unrelated to spiritual counseling or healing work, technically. It’s good to have many talents. I am not going to talk much about this one right now, because there are still a lot of minor details to hammer down and I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes. I did get complimented more than once on my solid business head—which amazes me-but hey, all that research surely pays off somewhere, right?

Do you know, I can sell documents through ether? PDFs. That opens up this incredible range of things there. Intersting.

I know ether has no control over the people who call me. That’s not their job. Plus, they do give me a ton of tools to block callers and other things. Therefore, I am not faulting them. Oh no. Ether I love. I have been contemplating pulling all my accepted listings from the ether directory. I am not really sure what about healing in general, or counseling of any nature, especially spiritual counseling, makes people think, hey, let me call and get this one to talk about graphic sex w me. Uhm. I do not do that. I have a one star rating because I would not talk this guy through his masturbation and I told him I would not before I politely hung up on him. What about I am sorry, but I’m not the right person for this call. This is not what I do. I am hanging up now. is so incomprehensible? But in order to keep up the blog there I have to have at least one valid ether directory listing, so I am not going to worry about it. I will keep hanging up politely on people and blocking them from calling me again. And if I get a poor rating, reporting them to ether over it. I am cool with that.

Well, then, lost in translation again. I was going to say, this is the end of a very busy day. My energy is still kinda high actually. I am feeling really way too good. Plus, I still have a meeting to attend in an hour or two. I love to appear when things are about to get Biblical on someone else. Watching He on High mete out Punishment is quite the learning experience, in case there is any doubt about why I do what I do or why.

I really need to actually read the manual that came w my netbook. I am interested in the languages the book is printed in: English, French and Dutch. Dutch. I had to look it up to see which language it was. At first glance, I had assumed it was German, until I saw the page tag that said “Nederlands”. Very interesting.

I would like to tell you I am so tired and ready for bed, but I am ready for a shower, which will wake me up even as it shuts me down. I am looking forward to reading some more, even if it is the manual here.

So, not at all what I was planning to write in response to Leah. And uhm totally way longer than I had planned or assumed. But I am in chatty mode and I haven’t posted in awhile, or least not on a regular basis.

I think this may mean everyone is all caught up now. So, I am off to shower and to bed, to read for a bit. But still.

Hopefully, I will finish all my transcription by tomorrow and will have more stories to show for it, although some were published today, and yesterday, on the other blogs. See if you can find them. If you’re interested. Or not. Cause now I am starting to wind down and get tired.

Until next time then….

Reposting A Deleted Post

I have one goal here:

On June 21, Father's Day, the First Day of Summer, Summer Solstice, I plan to cut my hours in half with the network. I will work half the day for my own network and clients, half the day for theirs.

This is only to ensure that I have an influx of income while I make the transition.

Thanks to Sarah, I have the knowledge to set up my own paying blog.
I began that process today. I was stumped on how to retain my 'name brand', The KnittingJourneyman, and still let it be known I sell stuff here...add into it the plethora of things that may make it on to said blog, and I was really worried.

Never fear. I found something so simple: For Sale By The KnittingJourneyman.
Silly, but simple.

The blog is not set up, merely up in cyber place. I shall be working on it the next couple days.

Things you can expect to see from me for sale: original artwork (thanks to Sarah's committed faith in my abilities), knitted items and crocheted items (which could mean anything from shawls to toys to clothing....), knitting patterns, candles, soaps, poetry collections....ya never know.....

I trust in the Universe to ground me and to support me, to uplift me during the troubled times and to keep me safe. I trust the Universe to show me the correct Path to take and to help me get there and to get through it. I trust the Universe as I am Guided and Protected.
I trust I shall succeed and do well.

So mote it be.

38. From whom did you get your last email?

50. Anything else you'd like to know?
hmmm....lots of things....but right now the one thing I want to know is why some people write false books about terrible things that really happened as if they were true, but when it comes out the book is fake that takes away from the reality of the bad things?

I read 'Fragments' by Binjamin Wilkomirski the other night-found it in a thrift store-it made me sick w the depravity of the Nazis-but at least hopeful that this child, like many others, made it through to learn how to live outside the camps--then I found out the whole thing is fake. Now this book detracts from the reality of the death camps, which all too many people already scoff at and say they never existed--which is almost as bad as the crimes committed in those death camps.....

Look At Me Now

First, how do you like the new look for the blog?

Let me apologise to everyone who has given me an award: they are not gone--they still stand in the original posts. Things were getting too cluttered for me, so I decided to pare back on things. I mean no disrespect and I am still very grateful for each and every single award. I am very proud to have been chosen by such wonderful people as having some sort of impact on them. And on the world at large.

I have done a little house-keeping here and there on a number of blogs, and in my own home as well. Things are in the process of a huge shifting. I am no longer feeling overwhelmed or unsure about myself or about things. Better things are coming my way. That big clear clean wind is blowing. This is only the first of many lovely things to come.

I cannot believe how quickly my life can turn around. But it has. I have removed the yokes that have held me in place, that I allowed to hold me in place, and I am moving forward. I am the snowflake at the top of the mountain that becomes the torrent of avalanche as it speeds to the bottom. I know I am landing happy and content at the end of this turn here.

Last year, I struggled for months to save money to buy things for our homeschooling process. I never quite had enough to get everything I wanted all at once. This year, I ordered not only this year's supplies in total, but some other extra supplies in case the girl progresses faster than expected, things that would have had to have waited until next year had I continued upon the same path I was on in early June of this year.

I love Christopherus Homeschool Resources. I bought the pre-kindergarten series, the kindergarten series, and the first grade syllabus and series before we left MO to move to MD. We have used them. I had no idea how much I used the philosophies I had garnered from Donna's books until I picked up the first grade syllabus a week or so ago, in order to find out where we have been really slacking and the best way to improve things. Well, despite my lax adherence to daily rhythms, we have been doing much better than I expected. We are a bit behind on the art and movement. I know E needs more history. But otherwise, we do seem solid. E has a third grade mathematics comprehension level. She can do simple multiplication and division now, and R does have alot to do with that. He is also pressing her in her reading, and there are times when we really catch on to the fact that she reads much better than she lets anyone think. She is not up to reading all of Lestat's adventures yet, but she is getting there.

I am pretty proud of myself w the Christopherus order. Not only did I get the second grade syllabus, but I also grabbed a cook book, several art books, the living language book and some other things. I am very excited for them to get here so we can begin. :-)

I have had E working through the primer level of mathusee's program, in order to familiarize her w their system. I had forgotten we had this. I had it stuck on a bookshelf in the storage room so I wouldn't forget it. E is rather frustrated w the primer level. It is way too beneath her current range and she bores easily. I keep explaining she is having to learn how to use their block system so she will be ready when alpha and beta get here. Again, primer is something I ordered before we left MO for MD. This was in a box at my mother's for the longest time; whereas I had the christopherus stuff w me in the apartment in WV, after a trip or two to Ma's (thank you, Dad) to grab essentials and whatnot. The mathusee stuff got rolled when the truck went head over heels in Nov 08.

Now, on top of the regular we ordered curriculum stuff, I also decided to do some things for us and for me. Since I am on the phone so much w clients (and yes, I am on the phone more now than I was before--now add more time w more money and see why I am able this year to actually buy curriculum outright like this) and because my kids ruined the living room rug--and now my den is rather cluttered and dense--and I am made nervous by the whole mouse issue--I decided I needed to buy some actual work-out equipment. I always love stationary bikes. So I figured I'd get a bike. I started my research and discovered that not only were recumbent bikes healthier for your back (etc), they also seemed to be more quiet than regular upright bikes. So, I started looking at recumbent bikes. Which somehow lead me to investigating elliptical machines. I was really leaning towards a recumbent bike, until R took us into a sporting goods shop and let us all test the elliptical machines and the recumbent bikes and everything else. Now, I do like the recumbent bikes. Don't get me wrong. But I really liked the elliptical machines. What I ended up ordering when I got home was a cross trainer machine--both elliptical machine and upright stationery bike. I am eagerly awaiting its delivery. I have already prepped R for my needing help to assemble something once it gets here. That conversation is what led us to the test-drive process. :-) He's gone on a float trip this week-end, so he doesn't know yet what I have heading my way.

Then, I sat down in front of my computer and I brainstormed. I gathered research I had done in an actual bookstore, coupled with recommendations from mentors and teachers, and I went to town ordering books.
I bought a bunch of writer's books for myself. I figure if E has to do her schoolwork, I should have to do mine too. I will post my newly ordered books on my goodreads site, if you are interested in seeing what I ordered. I ordered some books suggested by SoulFoodCafe members, mostly in regards to Hestia's Hearth. As well as some recommended by Heather herself.
I am very nearly done with "Living Your Unlived Life" by Robert Johnson and Jerry Ruhl. I have been dreading finishing it. It is very good. I am wondering where to go from here, after I am done with this book, I have another book by Mr. Johnson, so I am not entirely bereft. And it is not as if I don't have a billion books at my disposal in my own home anyway. But I am heading somewhere right now and I know it. I can see the final destination, I just want to be doing everything I can right now to ensure the best possible journey. Doesn't have to be the fastest, just the most enjoyable. I have had enough stupidity and ignorance in my life. I am leaving all that behind.

I ordered alot of books in regards to helping both E and N in their learning processes. I also ordered the amplified bible. E has been asking for more stories about Jesus Christ and all sorts of other people she has minimal knowledge of, like Esther, like Daniel, and my favourite, the resurrected Dorcas (which is Greek for Tabitha :-) ) Plus, I have wanted a transliteration for a very long time. Right now this does seem to open up enough avenues that I feel better about buying it. I am planning, whenever I find something appropriate, to buy E some bible story books. But- I will also buy Jewish and Muslim and Buddhist and Hindu and Native America and whatever else I can find. The more she is exposed to, the better I feel about things and the more informed she is. Right now, she is more interested in the Jesus Christ stories.

I also made sure I procured a copy of 'The Joy Diet' by Martha Beck for the next chapter group starting in September. Make sure you go to the blog to check things out. Jamie Ridler is the group leader and she is always and of course magnificent!

I very nearly bought some more art instruction books, but I held myself in check this time. I have a couple already here to read before I allow myself to buy any more.

I am also not allowing myself to buy any more writer's books, neither as resources nor prompts nor inspiration. Nada. I should have enough in my current possession to keep me very busy for awhile now. I plan to re-access this next year at some point. No definite time planned yet though. That'll come to me. Surely.

It's like my yarn diet. No new yarn without first stash diving. E got to pick out some yarn for her little black riding hood scarf (it's a hooded scarf by Suss Cousins in her 'Hollywood Knits Style' book. I made one in maroon when we were in WV, but I gave it away. And now, my little darkling vampire goth chick snot-head, she requires black. :-) She is actually pretty excited over this thing now.

I told R the other day the way things are going I'll be buying him his truck by the end of the year. He wasn't scoffing at me either. If this is merely the tip of the iceberg...just imagine what is going to start happening for me. For us.

I am just very excited.

Oh, and I am very far behind in my transcription. I have been writing. Every day except for the past Wednesday, when we were w R. Tuesday I got some writing done before he came to pick us up. :-) Here is what I have, roughly:
Five of the stories are for K's journey.
One is for Hestia.
The rest are just vignettes mostly.
I have thirteen pieces in all.
I was actually surprised at having five pieces for K done. For some reason, I was thinking there were only three. So I have impressed myself there.

I am in the midst of an article for my friend and client. I will show it to the world as soon as I finish it and clean it up somewhat.

I had an interesting evening today. My loving son came in to check out my feet, as he has done every weekend for several weeks now. My heels are cracking, Or they were cracking. They've been healing, longer than N has been carefully checking them out every week. But a great deal faster in the past 2-3 weeks now.
First thing he told me to go wash my feet, that they were dirty. They were dirty and they were grossing me out. I neglected to point out his last cup of chocolate milk, where the milk had spilled in one way while the powder puffed up and gusted out in another direction, and I had walked through all of that and then some.
I came back in with clean feet and he did his usual inspection, rubbing and pressing the soles of my feet. He told me they were looking better. My son talks. My son interacts. My son catches on. And when allowed, he really talks. Not just in response to questions put to him. Not just demanding a drink or a toy or a movie or whatever. This child tonight laid on the bed and talked to me. I let him talk. I only responded when he asked a question. He explained to me what I needed to do to take care of my feet so they would heal (truthfully, forging out on my own has been the best healing process ever). He told me in detail. He told me how I needed to wash my feet, He told me about using band-aids and how of course that is how my feet would get better. He told me about how band-aids had helped his booboos heal and how they always made him feel better. No one ever gives this kid credit. They call him "autistic" and write him off as a non-entity who cannot relate or function, even people who know him. This kid, who usually bounces off walls while he is here because I let him just be N, I let him pour his own milk and add his own chocolate powder without getting upset over the mess, I let him nuke his own butter for popcorn and depending on how hot the mug is when it comes out he gets to pour the butter too and put the salt on, I let him get his own plate, his own popsicle, all sorts of things.

This boy of mine, this so-called "dysfunctional" and out of sorts child, laid on my bed with his feet pressing against mine and all he did was talk to me. For a good ten minutes. And all I did was offer soft quiet very short answers, hoping to keep him talking as long as I could. I can hear the adult in there trying to work its way out. It's a brilliant thing.

Why did this little man stop talking to me tonight? Because he was falling asleep and his sister came in to set up her bed for the night. As soon as she came in, he fell silent. He was asleep about five minutes later.

This is the little boy who waits til the clock is roughly at 12N before walking in to crouch over his sister and give her a hundred kisses on her cheek and head in order to wake her up every morning when he's here. And he does it becasue he wants to, not because he is urged, or because anyone suggests it. He just loves his sister, period. The boy himself gets up at the ungodliest of hours. Today I got to sleep til almost 8a (I will explain why in another post--first there was the insomnia--then there was a book). I am so exhausted. I took a nap earlier in the evening, but it wasn't enough. I had clients and friends in need of counsel today. Which is a terrific thing and for which I am very grateful. Even for the friends part.

I know I have a busy day ahead of me tomorrow. I have to make the time to email my friend, whom I neglected today. I have to transcribe thirteen stories, not to mention whatever I write tomorrow morning as well.

My bf is going to have a field day w me. I want another tattoo. I really want another tattoo. The conversation w Sarah the other day about her drawing a tattoo out for someone-it is stuck in my head.

The more I turn it around and around, the more I think I am going to ask her to draw me something. And that something I am going to get tattooed on me somewhere. I would really like the warrior geisha fairy done on me, but there's way too much detail in there in the black ink lines. I would love to find a way to have the warrior done in a sleeker more defined and yet less detailed manner. Am I making sense or did that stop a long time ago? :-)

I am planning to run it by her one day soon. Once I have a better idea of what I want in my head. I have a place in mind for her to go already. And it will not disturb the wind dragon I want to get in the same area either. Not if I do it right. :-)

Oh, the deal w the bf? He says I have at least one tattoo too many. Maybe two. I am over the limit for the number of tattoos he finds reasonable. Of course, I keep pointing out, his issue lies in the fact that the last two I got were for him. The one before the last one, I didn't tell him what it was about or who it was for/about until after it was done. Literally. I told him a few seconds after he pulled away from the curb at the tattoo place. I do love that man--and the way he reacts to things.
Taking him in and having him hold my hand when I got the last one done, his clan name on my wrist, that was the most spectacular thing, in the whole world. Minus the hours we spent together after we got it done. Those were really telling in and of themselves.

Ok-I'm done for the night. Time to shower and go read.
May the Bright Lights shine upon you at all times.
And may They shine away from your eyes when you're sleeping. :-)
Blessings.

Thanks for listening.

Full Moon Dream Boards

August's dream board is done. It's just not completely dry yet. I will post pictures w this post.

I am struck today, wondering...wandering...are my dreams getting smaller...or so much more expansive that even a smaller canvas expresses the intensity and immensity of things....I believe the size of the canvas is not at all indicative of the size of the dream. I believe it is the essence of the message and/or the imagery. When you step into them, you and they become as large or as small as they need to be to achieve the goals.

At the beginning of this week, I removed July's dreamboard, the path from here to there. Because the Universe ensured that I had made it from here to there, even before I was ultimately certain I was ready. The one real remaining boundary over-which I have/had any actual control: my work. Now, I work for myself. I was asked today why I waited so long to branch out on my own, so well am I doing. It amazes me. It scares me. But it makes me so happy. Not that I still don't have a long way to go, but I am getting there. Amazingly so.

Now, thanks to everyone who wishes along with me, thanks to the Divine and the Universe, thanks to everyone, I am able to pick up in the middle of the week and take a day off, without fear, without trauma, without spending the whole day shaking and worrying about needing to get back to work or planning to work extra hours later or any of that. Now, my week-ends are open and available.

Now, I am blessed and blessed again.

The Universe just keeps giving. This week the Universe returned a very good very dear friend to me, after, what, a twenty year separation?

Truly I am blessed.

Truthfully, when I removed last month's dreamboard from the wall, it had alot to do with the fact that it was coming out of the wall. The top pushpin had uhm dislodged itself from the wall. I took that as a very good sign. As in, that dream had been fulfilled and it was time to find a new dream....time to shift the focus of things and start applying myself to the new goals...

July's dreamboard is now in my portfolio. It may not be my best work--but it's the only thing I have in the 9x12 portfolio at the moment. No, I take that back. I also put the burning spirit dolls piece in there, until I figure out what to do with it--until I write the story for it--which should be some time soon. That prompt is on my list. After yesterday, I am a little behind with the writing, but I am getting there. Slowly but surely. That's me--call me the Tortoise....

Tonight when I was taking pictures of this month's dreamboard and setting it up on my altar, at least for the night, because it is still wet, I noticed that June's dreamboard had only begun to pull free of the wall tonight. It was fine this morning when I looked. So, I pulled it down from its location. I didn't want to put it away though, so I hung it behind the armoire and closet door conjunction, where my very first dreamboard hangs (April, I believe). I left the next dreamboard, the big one done in May (I think) hanging in its place above the altar still, untouched. So much of all these dreamboards are still applicable.

The wall space above my altar feels good with this last dreamboard still up. I feel good with this dreamboard up. It's a very good thing. :-)

Now, then, there is this month's dreamboard.

I painted the background, using gel medium and various colors of paint, in layers upon layers, on the New Moon. I never did manage to get all the glitter off of it, but it seemed today to actually work with the piece, so who am I to complain?

Since the New Moon, I can't tell you when because right now I am not really certain, I used modeling paste to build up some trench-like bits. When I started, I honestly didn't have anything in mind. I was playing. Just trying to see what the stuff would and could do. I let it dry, came back and added more paste, let it dry. Walked away from it and pretty much left it alone until tonight.

Good ideas always seem to hit me when I am on the phone w a client. :-) Tonight was no exception.

Now, in my mind, I have been planning this thing for over a week. As soon as I noticed the shape the paste was taking, I had an idea as to what I needed/wanted to do. In reality though, you might have thought I had forgotten its existence completely. I only touched it to move it out of the way, since it has spent way too much time on my kitchen table cum art studio. :-)

Tonight on the phone, I painted. Freestyle. You will not believe the layers of paint on that flower. Or how much blue is underneath all that red and orange. The first time I stopped and looked at it, I thought it had to be the ugliest flower I have ever seen. So I glued my picture on and let everything dry for awhile. Then I went back w another color paint and daubed it on. I experimented. I played. I had fun.

I paused again. I glued our fortune cookie fortune's to the board. So here I am combining R's, E's and my fortunes together.

The little figure in the bottom right corner--comes from the fortune cookie wrapper. She is so cute and so happy -- she screams good happy fortune and good happy luck to me. This is not the first time I have used this image in something. :-)

Of course, I had to have layers of glitter over all of this as well. A little touch of the fairy gilt always seems to enhance things. :-)

The woman there at the window represents great golden opportunities. SInce I am unconventional, at best, I am much more apt to open up a window than I am to open up a door. Doors I will bar and lock and barricade, but windows I always prefer to have open so the sunlight can come in. At least periodically anyway. :-)

The flower is of course fertility in motion. The bloom not quite open, moving towards the sun, growing, working itself into the open grace of full maturity. The entire piece moves with that passionate grace and persistent peace that floors me when I am not expecting to see it and yet catch a glimpse.

August is not only my month for blooming, but also for things come into fruition. When my time, my projects, my life, grow in to the full fruit. As things continue to grow, continue to put forth shoots and new blooms, so do good and even better things come to me, now that I have opened the way and allowed the Universe to work through me and with me, rather than having to fight to come around me to drag me along until my eyes are opened. :-)

This is a very good time in my life.

All fronts are healing, moving, growing, coming together, blossoming, bearing fruit. I am more than hopeful about things now. My trust and my faith are paying off. I still worry, because I am not used to good things, but I am slowly becoming somewhat more used to everything going well. I so appreciate that and I am so grateful for every moment...to everyone....

Wishcasting Wednesday-August 5

Well, a day late, but still....

The indomitable Jamie Ridler this week asks:

What do you wish to make room for?

Wow. See, yesterday I spent the day w the bf. Tuesday we took E to see a production of Hairspray--which we all enjoyed. We spent the night at his place w him. Even our dog spent the night.
Wednesday we spent the day w him. The man is a great cook. His bacon is perfect. His pancakes sublime. :-)
Hey-I have to give him credit when and where I can. :-)
I had thought 1 I'd be willing to check my email which would have led me to 2 taking client calls -- which I can do from any phone these days, mwha ahaha :-)

Sorry about that--couldn't resist it. I did not go near the computer at all yesterday, except for one tiny thing that the bf and I took care of. Which had nothing to do w my email at all.

Anyway, I missed the full moon dream board (mine is currently in progress as we speak--I hate waiting for paint to dry so I can add more colours :-) ) and I missed wishcasting--but that doesn't mean I didn't do them in my heart.

My exact thought--my exact intention--was whatever the question Jamie put forth yesterday and whatever my intention for the coming month, I would be living my wishes yesterday.

I spent the day with the man I love, making plans about the future, and shopping in a global food market and picking up things on whim just because they sounded good and because I could buy whatever I wanted if I chose to do so.

And then I looked at the question today.
What do I wish to make room for?

More days like yesterday--but not all the shopping and running around. That's cool in it's own way, but to have that every day would kill me.

I wish to make room for our budding relationship, our growing family, our growing commitment, our future together, our increased happiness together....and not just me, but the kids, and the dogs, and even the cruddy bird too....if I have to. :-)

I wish to make room for the future of my family. I wish to make room for the relationship w the bf to grow, infinitely. :-)

And I thank you all for wishing alongside me and helping my dreams come true.

P/S--dream board will probably be posted tomorrow--have to let the paint dry between coats and everything. :-)

Week 1 of 4 Great Blog Giveaways

Check out this blog for terrific giveaways throughout the month of August!

Michelle has some incredibly cool stuff to give away--try your hand and see what happens.
Ya never know. :-)

How Does America Die?

Click here to pick your own apocalypse.

These are my results from the second time I played. The first time I thought you could only pick four. Hey-work w me-I have had no sleep. Literally. My normal insomnia, topped by the bf's insomnia, add in some weird night noises and a smoke detector needing new batteries--and do you know what time the sun actually comes up? Sheesh--been awhile since I noticed that. :-)

My first results gave me a humanitarian something, but as I was reading that, I saw that I could pick five things, not jsut four. All I did was pick the exact same four somethings, plus one more....and that one more shoved me from everybody lives, to everybody dies.
Interesting.

First August Manic Monday

Monday 178

Would you rather go a week without bathing, but be able to change your clothes, or a week without a change of clothes, but be able to bathe?

I would rather go a week without being able to change my clothes--things can always be done to improve nasty clothes.
nasty bootie cannot really be improved upon. And gods forbid I NOT be able to find a puddle or something to rinse my face every day.

If you had to be trapped in a TV show for a month, which show would you choose?

Sesame Street. At least I'd have a good time.
Unless you can guarantee me Nick Stokes puts out, for me...otherwise I am sticking w Sesame Street. :-)
