A Simple Woman's Day Book

Outside my window... lovely, slightly chill, but not cold--there are colorful leaves everywhere--and the squirrel ate the last of our tiny little tomatoes...

I am thinking... today is going to be a very busy day...we are now officially preparing to move (no, no word on the offer on the house yet today)...I have several things to do today for the business...I have NaNo writing to do and I have that story line bopping around in my head...so many things...so many things today...

I am thankful for... today of all days, after the week-end we had together, I am more than thankful for R and for having him in my life, no matter how terrible he thinks he may be for us or vice versa...I love the man and everything else pales in comparison...

I am wearing... my fave slouchy pair of jeans w all the holes and patches and everything else, my dog training AR sweatshirt, also falling to pieces...

I am remembering... how very much I must accomplish in a very short period of time

I am going... to be working my tushie off today on a variety of fronts...and I welcome that busy-ness

I am reading... What am I reading?  I haven't actually finished reading anything else, but I am re-beginning reading 'A Writer's Space' by Eric Maisel, what with the coming move and everything else

I am hoping... that the offer on the house goes through smoothly, that the house inspection goes smoothly, that the packing goes smoothly, that the moving goes smoothly, that I can get things settled enough before the December holidays to make the kids feel safe and welcome and loved

On my mind... how my fears around driving are hampering things right now, how we are going to manage the move if I turn out to be unable to drive at all, how to manage the move and everything else that goes on, the possibility of driving a rental truck on the week-end w both children in the truck w me--although on a week-end I know R will be driving and not me...but the worry is still solid there...

From the learning rooms...  patience is a virtue... we are trying to find some space, as a family entity (meaning R and me together), to deal w E and her...stubbornness and her unwillingness to communicate--she will communicate--but sometimes it takes so much to get there....

Noticing that... when the time comes, the energy and the desire to get up and do something is strong within me and I am not pushing it to the background--I am actually DOING things

From the kitchen... we made ratatouille for All Hallow's Eve Ancestor Meal...I was very impressed with how well it turned out, especially since it's the first time I ever made it...today?  I was thinking a simple pumpkin broth alphabet soup for E and me....but there are also pumpkins to bake today and to turn into pies or maybe just the custard...

Around the house... things are certainly jumping--I have already been up cleaning and sorting...we put the trash at the curb for pick up before bed last night--and this morning I added another bag to it--laundry is spinning--floors ahve been swept--the bathroom cleaned--all clocks have fresh batteries and are ticking away (my Chinese face clock in the bathroom, the battery died this spring and I never touched it...until this morning...it's good to hear it ticking again--I didn't realize how much I had missed it....)

One of my favorite things... the sales after Halloween...with the little Goth chick so much of what we buy during the October season is used year round...and I love watching E pick new things out for the next year on top of what she plans to use during the year...

From my picture journal...

This was taken right outside our front door--boy--it really has been a long time since i downloaded the pictures off my camera, huh?  This was early October, if I remember correctly...

Simple Woman's Day Book October 29 (for me)

OCTOBER 26th

FOR TODAY...

Outside my window... cooling, rainy...leaves falling all over the place...beautiful...

I am thinking... that sometimes healing does not come, no matter how hard one tries...

I am thankful for... my children, my home, my hope...

I am wearing... my orange night shirt and brown house sandals

I am remembering... that the Feast of the Dead is coming and I have not yet prepared...

I am going... to continue to sort things out for packing

I am reading... Water Witches by Chris Bohjalian

I am hoping... things around the hearth improve soon

On my mind... the pink elephant

From the learning rooms... isometric exercises to boost core strength

Noticing that... I need to repaint my toenails soon

Pondering these words... love heals all wounds

From the kitchen... a pot of hot dark tea

Around the house... slowly working on packing things for the move

One of my favorite things... snuggling deep beneath layers of cotton and wool, deep beneath the blankets, so warm and comfortable and not having to get out of bed until I want to

From my picture journal...

The Simple Woman's Daybook October 19

OCTOBER 19th

FOR TODAY...

Outside my window...darker skies, but clear...no sign of the recent rain...a bit of wind...it's pretty nice outside...

I am thinking...things are looking up, slowly but surely..

I am thankful for...my family--those who are close, those who are farther away, those who consider themselves on the outside...

I am wearing...jeans, green long-sleeved, black socks

I am remembering...how really good things can be when I let go and just..believe...

I am going... to work on developing more plans to find a new house and get us moved into it asap...

I am reading... "The Shy Writer' by C Hope Clark

I am hoping... that these thoughts in my head are really true...and I will be able to prove it very quickly...

On my mind... clearing out more unnecessary stuff to make room for new energies to come...

From the learning rooms... more indoor gardening possibilities...

Noticing that... my little girl is really growing up, mentally and physically...

Pondering these words... we'll figure it out...

From the kitchen... looking forward to pumpkin spice lattes later...daughter was very happy w French toast this morning...

Around the house... need to get into the storage room to clean it out as best I can pre-move...among other things of similar...

One of my favorite things~  yesterday w the kids and R and all of us wrestling...the whole connection and acceptance thing...

Need To Get Back In The Swing

For Today...

Outside my window... bright bright sunlight.

I am thinking... thank goodness for two things: the man I love and air conditioning.

From the learning rooms...I have alot of work to do to properly market my business and get myself out there.

I am thankful for... R. Hands down right now, it's him. Next comes N and E. Then comes air conditioning. :-)
Sorry-but we've been without a/c and just got it--it's a very good thing. Today is the first day in awhile I've felt almost decent and human.

From the kitchen... rainbow cupcakes (we experimented with food colouring and white cake mix) and chocolate cupcakes. Later today there will be banana bread and maybe waffles too.

I am wearing... My favourite blue paisley shirt my dd picked out for me before we moved from WV and a pair of old jeans that are comfy. And this killer nail polish that is such a dark blue-ish purple it looks black. :-)

I am reading... People of the Whale by Linda Hogan.

I am hoping... that my own off-line business takes off and I can leave the network permanently.

I am creating... the space where my work comes easily and happily and all parties are satisfied.

I am praying... every single day.

Around the house... way too many plants growing all too well that shouldn't, while the ones that should seem to fade away too fast. But at least we are surrounded by green, and even the so-called weeds have flowers that smell beautiful, especially first thing in the morning.

One of my favorite things... is playing with my kids.

A few plans for the rest of the week...
re-arranging the kitchen, which will entail re-arrangng the storage room.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

Both my kids and me at the indoor playground at our local dairy queen...

A Simple Woman's DayBook

For Today...

Outside my window... not too warm with a decent breeze...

I am thinking... just how lucky I am to have a partner like mine...

From the learning rooms... time to brush up on my French...

I am thankful for... so many things-from my kids to my house to my boyfriend to the dog to everything in the world these days...even the not so good stuff.

From the kitchen... home-made coconut cream pie.

I am wearing... jeans and a peasant top.

I am reading... A Year of Creativity by Brenda Mellon.

I am hoping... that new work off the network will come my way soon.

I am creating... new space for my art and my way of life.
.
I am praying... for patience and strength.

Around the house... I need to start going through things and purging again...starting with the linen closet...

One of my favorite things... lying in my boyfriend's arms, talking, even if it's a serious conversation...

A few plans for the rest of the week... I hate to say it-but I have to catch up with myself. I am behind in my writing, in finishing off the mandalas, in finishing off the surrender box series....I ahve alot of work to do--and that doesn't even include the laundry!

A Simple Woman's Day Book

For Today...

Outside my window...
it is bright and clear and slightly breezy, with birds chirping and chattering to one another.

I am thinking...
that I am completely forgetting everything I had set in my mind to do today...and that I need another dose of meds for my sinuses. :-)

From the learning rooms... it is back to the painting board today...

I am thankful for... everything...from my children, my home, the lawn freshly cut, the wonderful man in my life, my past, my present, my future, the sunlight, the breeze, the telephone ringing...

From the kitchen... English muffins spread with rose hip preserves....with fresh tea.

I am wearing... jeans and a tank top, w a sweater over it because of the slight chill. And 2 octopus tentacle hair sticks.

I am reading... several books all at once: The Incarnating Child by Joan Salter; A Year Of Creativity by Brenda Mellon; Awakening the hidden Storyteller by Robin Moore; Drawing with Children by Mona Brookes; The 12 Secrets of Highly Creative Women by Gail McMeekin.

I am hoping... that one certain situation resolves itself very very soon.

I am creating... oh so many things-- a cleaner more nurturing home--art journals--altered books--surrender boxes--new works of art--new thoughts and dreams--new ambitions and goals....

I am praying... see the last two items above and then add in good thoughts and love for my children.

Around the house... there needs to be some work done, but overall the place is not a wreck, for once....

One of my favorite things... is listening to my daughter sing the very strange songs she makes up on her own. And watching the certain video the bf and I made together, over and over, for no reason at all, just because it makes me smile and think really happy thoughts.

A few plans for the rest of the week... more writing--more gluing--more embellishing--more journalling--more blessings.
