Poetry Play Thursday 9/3/09
Hey, it's not midnight here yet! :-) That makes me on time, pretty much!
I so love this form--anything octopus and you know I am there...and you know I have to do things my way...I wrote two versions tonight--but I plan to play w this form more later on....
First one:
Her Hair
pale bloodless frozen ice blue
like flesh swimming beneath the flow
winter's hard gaze
unforgiving unconditional
dripping down crumbling tiles
bumbling over twisted gutters
raindrops tittering
skittering over fallen limbs
scarves caught on the railing
left out to dry all soaking
draped over the sodden lawn chair
collapsed over on its side
no mentalist leap needed
as snow drifts puddling
just like ice cream left too long
on the sidewalk in the sun
Number two:
Peace of Mind
mermaids tail green sea-worthy
frozen over underwater tundra
caught between the aisle and the island
swept up in the hurricane
wrapped warm and tight that blankie
taken from the family couch
lost in the memories
eaten slowly from within
The Knitting Journeyman
Gathering Up One Thread At A Time As I Weave This Web Of Mine.....

A List Of Things
What’s in the drawer
Locked up in the brain
Today?
I wonder…..
That old broken clock,
It never worked anyway.
A key to the box
Where I stuffed my heart away.
A mimosa tree seed
For the love of my grandfather.
A branch of mountain ash
For my long lost daughter.
A map of my soul
To hand my beloved.
A vase full of tears,
The flowers long since dead.
A leather-bound book
That I’ve torn the pages out.
Sewing needles and thread
So I can piece my life back together.
A candle wedged into its holder,
Feeble, yes, but still burning bright.

Poetry Play Thursday

The textyladies have done it again.
What an interesting prompt.
Pictures are forthcoming.
I grabbed a friend--tore a page out of an old book I have had ideas of altering anyway, tore out an auspicious page (page 444 to be exact) and gave the girl a marker. A yellow one. Told her to highlight certain words, whatever she liked.
All I did was take a super sharpie (that's what it says on the side anyway) and marked through everything she hadn't.
Here is what we got:
gulping first drinks...
reluctance...
tolerance...
loss of control...
piling up...
impotence developing...
intensity of female orgasms...
erections are weakened...
stimulates...
destroys...
killer...
never be cured....
no one ever stops...
there is only one solution...
fellowship...
stay sober...
immediate help...
do something about it...
anonymity...
people come and go....
no questions are ever asked...
one day at a time...
if we feel the urge...
neither yield nor desist...
put off taking...
until tomorrow...
nor does it solicit or accept outside funds...
hat is passed...

Chance
What if the Moon let down Her Guard?
I might learn to fly….
What if I learned to Trust?
I could fly away on the Wind…
What if the River offered up Her Gifts to me?
I would swim a long way off…
What could I not do, if given half the chance?
I might learn to fly….
What if I learned to Trust?
I could fly away on the Wind…
What if the River offered up Her Gifts to me?
I would swim a long way off…
What could I not do, if given half the chance?

Little China Doll
I am not as strong as you
I am that little china doll
Carelessly crushed and discarded
Too fragile too be loved
Without so much care
I cannot stand in the sun
Without tears streaming
Down my face
From my soul
Longing to crawl back
Hide within the known embrace
In the dark
I don’t want to look at the scars
I don’t want to see the fragments
I don’t want to have faith
I don’t want to trust you
I want to run away
I want to be alone
I know how to be afraid
I know how to hurt in silence
I don’t know what to do
With such unconditional love
I don’t know how you do it
I am not so certain
I know what to do
Or if I can wait
To learn
I just don’t know
I just don’t know
Anymore

Poetry Play Thursday
Honest I did not forget-I just got busy--but saved by the bell--and here I am.
This is my senryu as per the prompt at textyladies.
Loving You
So small inside me
Little blossoms are blooming
Your love overwhelms

Playful Poetry Thursday
I write free-style poetry. The textyladies posted a renga prompt. I am not in the mindset to count today-nor to rhyme nor to work on my iambic pentameter. Or anything else for that matter. So I took the basic structure of the renga form and I adapted it to my own quirky wants and needs.
And one of these days, you, I will be able to look you in the eye, without looking as if I am about to cry, and say the words--and include one more that I as yet have not: IN. I can't say it to you yet--even though I can't stop thinking it.
In
In
One small word
Counting high
Breaking through
To another side
Touching me
Where no man could
Blinding me
Softly grazing
Never phasing
Holding tight
Coiled in a ball
Alive at last
After so long
Now to stand tall
Faltering
Halting
Uneasy in faith
Must believe
Learning to trust
Broken inside
Shoved aside
Just so lost
Struck now by your eyes
And their embrace
If I close mine
To step inside
Who holds my hand
While busy
Holding on to yours
The fragile state
Like floating breath
Glassine butterflies
My heart is there
Too scared to be frozen
Love is a simple thing
You open your heart
That is the thing
Soul depths
No hiding
Stepping in
Inside my brain
Inside my night
My hearts burns there
Just for you
Touching me
Holding me
Falling in too
