A Recap From Monday

and since I am posting it today--you should understand how busy Monday was around here...

What are you grateful for today?

Oh geez—do we have time for the list?
R, E, N—the dogs, the buns, the sunshine, even the pollen from the trees.
El Mel’s for the gorgeous starter plants.  Flowers blooming.  Books.
History.
Being in love.
Being happy.
Surviving the recent upheavals together as a family and being made stronger for it and by it.
Rain, even if accompanied by thunder and lightning.
So many many things…so many many people I haven’t even begun to name yet…

What's missing in your life?

Lol
More time—or maybe I should say the ability to make better use of my time…

Has the conflict and harm religion has caused outweighed the good it has produced?

Man, talk about a kettle of worms here.
Are we talking, worldwide and throughout history, any religion, every religion?
Personally, I think some religions have done a great deal of good—while others have spent centuries murdering, raping and pillaging in the name of a god who shudders at the thought.

Rejoining With Manic Monday

Manic Monday #196

What is one thing you wish you could change about yourself?

Hmmm--well, my normal range of things is already in motion...so I guess I would have to say...I'd ...hmmm...I can't think of anything I am not already in the process of changing---removing the one tattoo---growing my hair out, and my nails--there's not much else--I've worked my whole life to change things--now I just want to keep moving forward....

Do you believe everything happens for a reason?

Darn near everything, yes.

What would be your dream job?

I'm doing it--writing, drawing, sculpting, knitting, journeying...not every avenue may be paying right now, but it pays enough to keep us comfy...

Manic Monday For November 2

Today, Manic Monday # 187

Most of the U.S. observed Daylight Savings Time yesterday. Is it easy or difficult for you to switch your body clock? Do you suffer from jet lag when traveling?

My schedule is so bombastic lately, I never even noticed the time shift.  I don't think E has noticed it either.  It usually takes me longer to adjust to 'springing forward' than to 'falling back'.  I am more used to weird hours and odd circumstances and not being able to sleep...I don't know why adding an hour messes me up more rather than the losing an hour, but it does.

If you had to pick one place in your town to bring a tourist, where would you go?

What sort of tourist?  Family?  Stranger?  Friend?
Why are they in town?
What are they looking for/looking to do?
What are their likes and dislikes?
Do you mean here on this side of the River--or the other side?
Do you mean where I live right this moment--or where I will be living by the end of the year?
Too many questions...too many options...too many opportunities...each answer revolves more around the person I am taking than on me...

When you travel away from home, do you miss it?

Miss what?  My house?  My bed?  My pillow?  My dog?
Every week-end I spend w R, I think I feel as if I might be missing something...but any time I stop and think about it--I am not.
When we went to WV and back, all I wanted was for the driving to be over.  We stayed at R's when we got back; we didn't come straight back to our house.  Staying at his place was more than fine.

What I miss when I am away is the smell of my bedroom, with all the incense I burn...but I can always bring that with me--since my incense travels well...

Sometimes when I am away elsewhere, I miss the ability to get up and go somewhere else.  If I am in my own house, I can always retreat to my bedroom if I feel like it.  I can get ticked and throw things and not have to worry about messing other people's stuff up.  I can dump my clothes in a pile on the floor and ignore it til the next day if I choose.
But that's as close to missing anything as I feel.  Mostly because this place doesn't feel like Home...and I know it will be here when I get back.
When I am w R, I am Home.  Nothing else really compares to that...
When R and N and E and I are all together--then that is the best thing in the world--and that is the feeling I love to have....

Manic Monday # 186

Today's Questions!

How do you define honesty?

truth--even if it only your version of the truth--but your truth

What is the main thing that makes you unique?

other than my quirky personality?
other than my weird sense of humor?
must be the whole-I live for me and not anyone else thing I have going on....

What is your biggest fear or worry?

failing
no...wait...
succeeding

Manic Monday--On Monday For A Change

Manic Monday # 184

Do you read an actual print newspaper? If so, how often?
only when my dad sends the newspaper in the boxes he sends--and usually that's just the comics
otherwise-I read the pets for sale section and not much more...

What is your main source of news?
internet

Do you believe that it's possible for the media to be unbiased?
not a chance, no matter what region they're in or from...

Manic Monday

What is the longest time you've gone with your Internet not working in your home?
a couple weeks in between moves--waiting for the service to be connected---ARGGHH!!!

How many email addresses do you regularly use?
three--because I recently got rid of all the extraneous email addresses, which would have put me over twenty

Are you able to access the Internet on your phone? If so, how frequently do you use it?
no-nor would I want to if I could--I am very against total connectivity all the time--I need to get away from the internet--more often than I will admit to myself :-)

Manic Monday # 182

Manic Monday--so I keep forgetting the days of the week...I know...I know...

Would you be willing to have horrible nightmares every night for a year if you would be rewarded with extraordinary wealth?

Sure--why not?  Nightmares I can deal with and in the end the money will be there...

What was the most recent movie that made you cry?

Cry in what way?  Tears of mirth? Of joy?  Of sadness?
Wolverine made me cry just looking at all those chests...but...ahem...that's a different story, huh?
I don't recall for sure which movie made me laugh so hard I cried recently.
But I do know the Changeling made me cry so hard I haven't been able to watch it all yet.  I have to have someone here w me when I watch it.  That has to be the scariest horror movie I have seen, in years....

Would you rather be stranded on an island alone or with someone you hate?

Alone.  No question about it.

Manic Monday # 181

So, I sort of forgot to post it til now....but at least I remembered it this week....

What's one new thing you tried this summer than you've never done before?
Turkish cast on
Hey-I am pretty proud of myself...

What is the one thing you miss the most about summer when it is over?
I am supposed to miss something when summer is over?
Uhm, I don't think there is anything I do in summer I don't do the rest of the year and don't prefer in, say, autumn, maybe spring....

If you could eliminate one source of anger in your life right now, what would it be?

the girl would be more cooperative with her schoolwork--everything else we could deal with if she would jsut put forth some effort....

First August Manic Monday

Monday 178

Would you rather go a week without bathing, but be able to change your clothes, or a week without a change of clothes, but be able to bathe?

I would rather go a week without being able to change my clothes--things can always be done to improve nasty clothes.
nasty bootie cannot really be improved upon. And gods forbid I NOT be able to find a puddle or something to rinse my face every day.

If you had to be trapped in a TV show for a month, which show would you choose?

Sesame Street. At least I'd have a good time.
Unless you can guarantee me Nick Stokes puts out, for me...otherwise I am sticking w Sesame Street. :-)

I Made It On A Monday!

Ha! It's still Monday! I am too impressed with myself at the moment!

Manic Monday 177

What is one thing that you would change about yourself if you could?
No glasses...no contacts...and without surgery.
Otherwise, I want my hair long enough to sit on. :-)

Name three exotic countries you would like to visit:
Define exotic--just, not where I am now?
Wales, Scotland, Ireland
more? not exotic enough?
Okinawa, Egypt, Lebanon

What do you think the secret to life is?
knowing only you can make you happy--and if you aren't happy no one else is to blame and you are the only one who can fix that...it pays to know yourself and know what you want and what makes you happy...

Monday So Manic

It took me til today to catch up.
Honestly Monday was rough. Too many things going on.
And although I had meant to do this yesterday...of course..I didn't...til now...
Not to be outdone I still have a Saturday 6 to do from last week-end too!

So, without further patience needed, here we go:

Manic Monday 176

When and with whom was your first kiss?
Does it count if my first kiss was w my best friend when I was 5. She stuck her tongue in my mouth and told me 'that's how French people kiss' and we laughed our butts off.

As for my first 'real' kiss...I dunno...I know it had to be when I was around 12...but other than that....your guess may be as good as mine....

Do you believe that everything happens for a reason?

yes, some days I think I have to...other days I think it's a natural thing...

What would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

Did you get lost? Tir Na Gog is that way, hon.

Another Late Manic Monday

175

Name two things you consider yourself to be very good at:
define "very"
I am very good w kids (not necessarily my own every day) and I am very good at knitting (but there are SO SO many better than I am).

Name two things you consider yourself to be bad at:
Staying angry with idiots who deserve it (yes, there's a story there-but no, not going into it now) and tickling catfish. :-)

Name one thing not many people know about you:
One thing not many know--that I don't mind many knowing?
That's the real issue.
I wasn't surprised when the ex started sleeping w someone--other than I am surprised a 20 something went for him--and I was actually more surprised it wasn't a guy--he so bored me in bed I stopped sleeping w him after we moved from the duplex to the house--and I stayed only because of the kids.

Manic Monday Times Two

Manic Monday 174

What is the longest love relationship (partner) you have had, and if it has ended, why?
15 years-because he couldn't keep his pants on, not with men or women....

What is on your bedside table?
books, lotion, alarm clock, air purifier, silk scarf

How many pillows do you have on your bed? Do you make your bed every day?
right now four, but sometimes six -- so I can sit up and read or type
I pull the blankets up every day to keep the dog off my sheets--I don't think it should qualify as officially making the bed

Manic Monday 173

Do you usually wear perfume/cologne? If so, what's your current favorite?
nope and I haven't actually owned real parfum, the stuff I usually wear, since I got involved with the ex-husband
I used to wear a combination of three scents...now I'd be happy to just have some opium....

What's the last book you've read that you thought was really good? If you don't have one, what looks promising on your to-be-read list?

a really good? depends on what I am trying to get from a book.
People of the Whale by Linda Hogan is an incredible book. There are few people I know that would be able to get this book without someone sitting down and explaining things to them.
I read four books by Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs in three days and I love them; there were awesome.
I sat and read all the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris, devoured them like cotton candy.
But I have a stack of non-fiction that is terrific.

Fill in the blank: I wouldn't be caught dead _________.
uhm, sitting on any of the ex's laps--or uhm indulging any of the ex's ex's and their uhm whims. (as in no 4 ways or anything of that nature....)

So, Monday Was So Busy It Leaked Into Tuesday

Manic Monday 171

If you joined the circus, what act would you most want to perform?

I would want to be one of the rope climbing performing girls--or the lion tamer.

Would you generally be overdressed or underdressed at a party?

Uhm, that's me--either overdressed or underdressed, no matter what I do. Or where I go for that matter.

Do you feel that children should be sheltered from unhappiness?

No. I don't think they should be inundated, but completely locked away from it, no.

My Monday's Really Are Manic, Hectic and BUSY

I know I missed last week's, but I am back, even if a day late....
So here it is:
Manic Monday 169

Imagine you're packing a picnic lunch. What would be in your basket?

This depends. Where am I going and who's going with me? Assuming I am going alone, say out walking, or horseback riding, I would take bread and sweet butter, water, probably lemonade. Fruit, like apples, peaches, cherries...and carrots too. Have to take something for the horse. Then of course, this is me, so there would be a book for me to read, some pens and pencils and a notebook for notes and drawings and ideas.

If your life were a weather vane, which direction would it be pointing right now?
True North. That's where I want to go...that's where I am heading...that's me....always moving forward...and hopefully to some place much cooler.
I think it has to be something in my genes that seeks out the cold and the wet, even though I dislike being cold and wet. :-) Go figure.

What's something that people do in traffic that really annoys you?

People in traffic really annoy me. I don't think I want to start driving again. I do not like pushy people. I do not like people who have no clue what a blinker is or for what purpose it should be used. I don't like people who put other people in danger, weaving in and out of traffic recklessly, tailgating, that sort of thing. I just don't like traffic. I don't like being on a highway where you can't get off until the exit...I makes me feel trapped lately and that makes me feel very uncomfortable.

Playing A Day Late

Manic Monday 168

If you could completely redecorate any room in your house at no expense to you, what room would you choose?

oh definitely my bedroom-
but my daughter's bedroom is the one in real dire need of a make-over.
Mine I just want paint, minor redo stuff.
E's needs a whole new everything from top to bottom so she can be organised and keep everything clean and straightened.

Which hour of the day do you feel goes the slowest?
usually between 12N and 3 actually--it's not one hour-but it's a time period.
Usually I will sit down and work steadily in the morning and before i know it it's noon--and then I am waiting and waiting and waiting, it feels like I check the clock a billion times and a minute hasn't even passed--and 3p hits and time starts moving again--I don't know why...

If your birthday could be in a different month of the year, when would you have it?
I actually thought and thought about this--I wouldn't change it at all. I like being a Pisces. I don't want a summer birthday. I definitely don't want a winter close to the holidays birthday. My favourite months are June and October--but I don't want my birthday in either of those. I like February--it is the best month for my birthday and I want to keep it where it is. I wouldn't even change the day at all.

It's Monday-Let's Play

Manic Monday 167

How old were you when you learned to tie your shoes?

I must have been about 8 years old before I got it right, where i could do it every time I wanted to tie them without asking for help.

Have you ever snooped in somebody else's medicine cabinet?

Not unless I told them I was going to ...

Who do you think you are?

There are just so many ways to respond to that question. Think I'll take the easy way out:
I am jsut me.
That's the best I am-and all I am. And I am happy to be me. :-)

Just Another Manic Monday

Manic Monday 166

Which household chore do you dislike the most?

has to be washing dishes-absolutely and above all else
I've had to wash dishes since I was 7-hated it then-hate it now-thank goodness for dish washers

What's the best museum you've ever visited?

does it count if the tour was via the web?
Le Louvre

if it has to be in person it was some museum in Tulsa, OK that had a ton of cowboy sculptures-I have no clue what the name is-but I always liked to go there-

It's Star Wars Day today. I've never seen any of the Star Wars movies. What "common" movies haven't you seen?

right now all I can think of is 'Twilight'.
I own the dvd. Can't watch it. It makes my head hurt. Read the books. Read all the books. Liked all but the last one. I am more a Sookie Stackhouse vampire lover, but still. Can't deal with the stupidity of the movie though. Have seen maybe 5 minutes of the entire thing. I walk out on it every single time.

Lots of movies based on books I cannot watch. I will not watch. And my friends are usually much happier when I don't watch them. Otherwise I gripe and complain way too much.

Manic Monday 164

A new Monday...here we go...

What's the best summer job you ever had?

best summer job I had was no job at all, hanging out near the beach and walking the boardwalk

Tell me about the worst date you ever went on.

Geez, it's been so long since i was on a date at all--I really don't know. I know i have been out with some lousy people, people I really didn't want to be anywhere near, but I always managed to find something positive to keep me going--even if it was this night will be over soon.

Now, the worst guy experience I ever had was not so bad-it just made me terribly uncomfortable. I had a dear boy in high school who was SHY--he would muscle up the nerve to call me at home--and then he wouldn't/couldn't talk-so I would chatter on a bit, then feel bad, try to engage him, chatter on, listen to us breathe, slowly pull us out of the call and hang up. It was so sweet, but I felt so bad. I knew it cost him so much just to call. He was such a nice guy. I always said hi to him whenever I saw him--and he would turn beet red and kinda nod and smile back.

Do you think the age for a driver's license should be raised (currently 16 here in the U.S.)?

If there were more stringent requirements to get a license, I would say no. If the US did things the way they do them in say, Germany or England, then I would say no problem. KNowing how they do things here in the US--yes--it should be raised to at least 18.
But I won't get into this now. :-) My soap box is out for repairs this morning. :-)
