Poetic Asides Day 4
Octopus I
Opportune creature
Outlining your progress
Outsmarting your prey
Orchestrating the magic
Ordering the sane
Original design
Over and under again
Octopus II
Sliding through the darkest waters
Tracing delicate patterns over the sandy bottoms
Caressing the crevices
Exploring with eager trepidation
Rimming the edges
Carefully depressing
Eager mittens ever gleeful
Swallowing gulping bolting down
Octopus III
Sluicing through the water
Pious jets do spurn
Awake but not hidden
Octopus IV
Febrile tendrils
Tickling sand beneath
Nowhere left to hide
Octopus V
Should I be eaten today?
Should I stop the running?
Should I stand still?
Hold fast?
Fight or die?
Should I fight to die?
What is left to me here?
I am surrounded by kith and kin--
Shattered shells at my feet.
Who else must die
Before I come to peace?
Should I live today?
Should I flee inside?
No.
Today I think I shall feast.
Leave the worries to the beast
And the fowl.
I am here.
I survive.
